The product can be applied by: Brush or spray. Spreading Capacity per coat: Depends on film thickness applied, type of texture, surface porosity, imperfections, temperature & wastage during painting.
New Ferrous and Steel Surfaces:
Degrease the surface using Crown White Spirit or a suitable degreaser, followed by a fresh water rinse. The surface should then be abrasive blast cleaned to SA 2½ in accordance with Swedish Standard SIS 055900 – 1967. Alternatively, the surface may be prepared by wire brushing to ST 3 of the same standard. No separate primer is required as the product is self-priming. Apply 1–2 coats of Crown Bituminous Composition for Drinking Water Tanks, diluted with Crown White Spirit according to the recommended application method.
New Galvanised Iron and Aluminium Surfaces:
Begin by degreasing the surface with Crown White Spirit or an appropriate degreaser, followed by a fresh water rinse. Prior to priming, test the surface to ensure it is “water break free.” Apply one coat of a 1-pack Etch Primer or Mordant Solution. No additional primer is required as the coating system is self-priming. Finish with 1–2 coats of Crown Bituminous Composition for Drinking Water Tanks, diluted with Crown White Spirit in accordance with the recommended application method.
New Plaster or Concrete Surfaces:
Ensure the surface moisture content is below 3% and remove all loose particles before coating. Apply one coat of Crown Bituminous Composition for Drinking Water Tanks, diluted with up to 10% Crown White Spirit as a priming coat. Follow with 1–2 coats of Crown Bituminous Composition for Drinking Water Tanks, diluted with Crown White Spirit as per the recommended application method.
