When our name was announced at the Kenya ESG Awards on February 28, 2025, the room erupted in applause. Crown Paints Kenya PLC had just won the Eco-Conscious Manufacturing Award, and in that moment, we weren’t only celebrating a trophy, we were celebrating a legacy of innovation, responsibility, and leadership in sustainability.
This victory carried even greater meaning because it followed our recognition in 2024, when we also received the Eco-Conscious Manufacturing Award, proving that our commitment to sustainability has never been about a single year’s effort but about consistent, deliberate action. Every step we have taken has been a bold stroke on the canvas of Kenya’s green future.
We have redefined what it means to be a paint manufacturer. Our solar-powered plant in Kisumu is already cutting emissions while powering production sustainably. We’ve rolled out an electric fleet, reducing our carbon footprint on Kenyan roads. Our water harvesting initiatives ensure that every drop is used responsibly, while recycling programs for paint buckets and cartons close the loop on waste. With low VOC products that protect both customers and the environment, we are giving people healthier choices. And beyond our factories, our commitment stretches into nature, where tree planting drives anchor our role as custodians of the environment.
All of this is underpinned by our Triple ISO Certification, a global benchmark that reflects not only quality but also occupational health, safety, and environmental management at the highest standards. These achievements are not just policies on paper, they are practices that shape the way we work every single day.
As our General Manager of Technical and Operations, Padmanabhan Ettammal, reminded us, “We have only borrowed the world from future generations, and it is our responsibility to hand it over in good shape.” Those words have been our compass. They remind us that even as we bring color and beauty into homes, offices, and communities, our greater purpose is to ensure that the world we leave behind is greener, healthier, and more sustainable.
Winning the Eco-Conscious Manufacturing Award reaffirmed what we have always believed, that true leadership is measured not just by market share or profits, but by the positive impact we leave behind. For us, this recognition was not an end, but a powerful milestone that fuels our determination to keep going further.
