Crown Mordant Solution / Passivating Wash

·       Thinner & equipment cleaner: Water

·       Dilution Ratio: Supplied ready for use. Do not thin. Stir well before use.

·       Apply a liberal coat of Crown Mordant Solution by brush and allow to dry. If the surface fails to turn black overall, the most likely cause is contamination of the surface or the presence of a factory applied pretreatment. Rinse the surface thoroughly and sand using P320 or finer sandpaper. Remove all residues and re-apply Crown Mordant Solution. Avoid over application as pooling of the wash will result in the formation of a fine brown deposit of copper. After treatment the surface must be rinsed with clean water to remove all residues and then allowed to dry before priming. The pre-treated surface should be overcoated with an appropriate metal primer within 48 hours or before contamination can recur

·       Drying Times: Leave on the surface for about 15 minutes – 1 hour then rinse with clean water to remove acid residues.

·       The product can be applied by: Brush. Do not spray as acid may be spread into air and cause harm.

·       Spreading Capacity per coat: Depends on film thickness applied, type of texture, surface porosity, imperfections, temperature & wastage during painting 18-20 m2/l when applied to smooth, non-porous surfaces

·       Non–flammable and non–conductive.

·       No heating is required upon application and it is water–soluble.

·       Cost effective, easy to apply and use.
